A bad day of racing is better than a good day of work

I had a pretty crappy day at the races today, no other way to say it. The first heat I ran was a joke, I only managed 8 laps. I got marshaled times than I ran around the track. I had minor setup issues all day with the truck. My major thing is that for some reason my steering trim had to be adjusted, a lot. I’ve run with that radio twice now, and both times it was perfectly centered. So something is off on the front causing me to pull to the left, I’ll find it this week and have it fixed for next. Second up were my changes to the caster on the front wheels, 4 clips in the back and the highest hollow balls on the turnbuckle did not help me. I undid that change after the first heat. The third issue was my shocks, I am overdue on a shock rebuild and that hurt me as well. The last thing is the turnbuckle ends, one of them seems to be pulling out. I thought this was an issue early on, but figured I just hadn’t noticed how far out they really were before, I was wrong I guess.
The day wasn’t a total loss, I did manage to pull it together enough to at least get used to the new track layout more. I think I have the double down relatively well, and I think I was pretty consistent on the table top in the 3rd heat and the main. I’m not sure what I did in the main yet, waiting for the results on the forums, but it should have been at least a 9, I am hoping 10 lap run.
I spent a lot of time talking with people at the track today, the biggest conversation was of course the Slash 4×4. It sounds like that will be a strong class for next year, and I think that might be a definite on my list. Mostly I want to have something stock, that is waterproof. I worry a bit about the E-Revo in the muddy spots on days like today. It has held up like a champ and can take abuse beyond my expectations, both from the driving and the conditions, but I would like to have something I don’t have to worry about running, and then I can leave the E-Revo in the car on those days. The Slash 4×4 seems to fit the bill pretty well for that. I’m still thinking about a buggy for next season too, either in place of, or in addition to, the Slash 4×4. It sounds like the 1/10 Buggy class might be losing steam, so maybe it’ll be a 1/8, electric of course. The only thing I am concerned with having 3 cars is maintenance. Keeping up the 3 of those, cleaning, tuning, etc… will be a pain. Some weeks I really just do not want to deal with the cleanup of the E-Revo. I also don’t have much space for 2 more cars. I have been thinking of a shelf for the wall to put the cars on, maybe something similar to a wall mount bike rack, but hanging those things like that for a few days a week might weaken the plastic I hang from I guess. We’ll see what the off season brings, and what I finally decide to do in regards to buying more cars. Running 3 cars seems a bit much for me, but the buggies look really fun, and the Slash 4×4 does too.
Pics are in the gallery as always. Looks like my rough day extended there a bit as well, I don’t think I got many great ones like I had tried. I’ve been working on getting more action shots. I love the nice shots of a single car kicking up dirt in a turn, or someone in the air or landing a nice jump, but I want more shots of two, or more, racers in a good battle for position. I’m sure I’ll get it with time, and maybe a new lens will help that if I can get something that will let me zoom in no matter where the cars are on the track.
